SLP August Link-up

Disclaimer:  This post contains affiliate links to Amazon.com for your convenience.

It's that time again!  I really look forward to these SLP Link-Ups that were started by Laura of All Y'all Need.  Laura always comes up with cute acronyms (acrostics?) each month!  This month is B.T.S.  Back to School.  I'm SOOOO not ready!! Oh well...Here we go!

Buying: I'm a sucker for a "good" informercial (if there is such a thing?).  I've been wanting to buy a juicer ever since I saw Fat Sick & Nearly Dead, but they are so darn expensive!  So, when I saw the infomercial for the Nutri Bullet (from the makers of the Magic Bullet), I was sold!  In addition, I've gotten a ton of great Back to School items from Target's Dollar Spot and Dollar Tree!  (I'll share some of them in an upcoming post!).

Trying:  I've been trying to eat more fruits and vegetables (hence the Nutri Bullet)...and now I'm trying out the Nutri Bullet with new combinations of fruits and veggies!  I have to say, the first time I tried it, the concoction looked disgusting, but tasted great!

Speeching:  I go back for professional development August 26th and 27th, but the kids don't start until after Labor Day.  I'm trying to enjoy the last few weeks of my summer vacation and not doing much speeching if I can help it (with the exception of blog posts, of course)!

If you're a blogger and want to link up, head over to All Y'all Need. If you're not a blogger, you should still head over and read some of the responses and get to know your favorite SLP bloggers a little better!

Happy August!

  1. Oh, my. I guess it is an acrostic, not an acronym. Thanks for setting me straight! Let me know about the fruit and veggies recipes. I'm trying to eat more of those, less of guilty snacks. And enjoy the rest of your summer!

    1. I wasn't trying to correct you Laura...I really had no idea which word to use, lol! So far so good with my drinks. I just put some bananas into the freezer to try the banana ice cream recipe!

  2. Hi Carrie! I'm trying to eat more fruits and leafy greens as well. I've been replacing one meal a day with a green smoothie. I wanted a Nutri Bullet but I'm so cheap when it comes to those things so I got a cheapo replica from Target.

    1. I'm doing the same thing Tai! I've been having a green smoothie for breakfast (1/2 spinach, 1/2 mixed fruit). I'm cheap too, but they had the Nutribullet for $120 on the infomercial and $92 on Amazon, so I went for it!

  3. Yes! Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead is such a "wakeup!" movie! Have you seen Hungry for Change or Food Matters? They are both life changing movies in my opinion. I think Hungry for Change is available on Netflix streaming. My husband and I definitely changed our eating habits after seeing those. We can't bring ourselves to purchase a juicer yet though, so maybe the Nutri Bullet is the answer. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hey Abby! I haven't seen the other movies, but I'll have to see if they're on Netflix (is there another way to watch movies? lol). What I like about the NutriBullet is that it's WAY easier than a juicer. You just put all the stuff in and mix and you can drink right from the cup! Every "recipe" I've tried so far has been pretty good (just more "pulpy" than a juicer would be)

  4. I've also been trying to eat healthier and incorporate the same things you are in. Enjoy your last few weeks of vacation!! P.S. We're in your neck of the woods right now-on the Cape for the week :)

  5. Hmm...never heard of the Nutri Bullet. If I can't sleep, I always get sucked in by informercials. You know the really good ones occur at 3AM haha!

    1. I have no problem sleeping at 3AM, so I guess I never get to see the really good ones! If you do run across the Nutri Bullet one though, it will suck you in!
