June SLP Link-Up!

Laura over at Oh, How Pintearesting! started a fun way for us to link up every month!  Her June SLP Link Up features a fun Father's Day theme! (I love the mustaches!)  To participate in this fun link-up, head over to Laura's blog for more info!

Here are my responses:

Jamming to:  The Laurie Berkner Band.  Sadly, I no longer have much control over what I listen to in the car.  If you have kids and you don't know about Laurie yet, make yourself familiar.  She has great songs geared toward kids that are not super-annoying to adults!  When I do get to listen to "grown-up music," I find myself turning up the radio for "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark" by Fall Out Boy, "Just Give Me a Reason" by Pink, and "I Love It!" by Icona Pop.

Unwinding:  I still have 3 1/2 weeks of school left, so I'm not unwinding yet!  In fact, I feel like I have so much to do!  Which brings me to...

Needing:  I really need to start writing my progress reports!  They go home on the last day of school, so I still have 3 1/2 weeks to get them done, but I do NOT like to wait to the last minute!  I also need to clean up my room, complete end of the year paperwork, and print/laminate some materials (I just bought the two SLP Cares for OK bundles from TPT!).

Excited about:  Summer vacation!  Since so many of my SLP blogging friend are either out of school or very nearly out of school, I'm really excited to begin my vacation!  I'm not working this year, just taking the time to enjoy my son and rejuvenate for next year.  This summer should be loaded with fun for us and I just can't wait for it to start!

Now it's your turn! Head over to Oh, How Pintearesting! to link up!

PS, Don't have a blog? Leave me a comment and let me know what your J.U.N.E. responses are!

  1. Carrie, thanks for linking up! I love all of the songs you mentioned, but I haven't heard of Laurie Berkner. My kids are teens, though.

How long is your summer break? We get out on Thursday but go back in late August.

I'm in the midst of progress reports. The products in the bundles would be so much more fun to make, but chores before fun...

Good for you for taking the summer off!

    1. We used 5 "inclement weather" days this year - 2 for hurricane Sandy, 2 for the blizzard, and one snow day. We were supposed to get out on 6/19. We go back for our professional days the last week of August (just 2 days). Then kids start the day after Labor day. So, we usually get a little over 2 months, but this year it'll be almost exactly 2 months off!

    1. Ha! I learned about Jack's Big Music Show b/c of Laurie. I got a mixed CD from a teacher friend and a few of her songs were on there. The first time my son smiled was when he heard "Victor Vito." Needless to say, I then ordered every CD and DVD that she put out, lol!

  3. So sorry to hear that you have 3 1/2 weeks of school left. This is our last week. YEAH!! I have to listen to Yo Gabba Gabba in the car but I love hearing my daughter sing to it. Good luck with the end of the year paperwork, it can be the pits.

    1. Thanks! My son has always been big into music and I tried to get him to watch Yo Gabba Gabba, but he has NEVER wanted anything to do with it! Enjoy your last week and your summer!!

  4. I know ALL about not having control over the radio in the car. If you see my link up...we've been listening to the muppet movie cd b/c my son loves, loves, loves it! So that's what we are jamming to! Hahahaha!

    1. I just went and looked for your link-up, but I didn't see it! Isn't it sad when you get super excited over having control over a radio/TV?

    1. Definitely a good choice for all parties involved, lol! Some other children's musicians I really can't take. Her songs are catchy, but not in an annoying way!

  7. Carrie, I am the same way about progress reports!! I start them super early because I feel like there is always a kiddo who I need more info on or has been absent and need more data. Plus they take forever! Our district is switching to a new IEP system, hoping it's faster for progress reports. We calculated over 6,000 mouse clicks to get them done! Good luck!

    1. EXACTLY! I just pulled a child yesterday b/c I didn't have enough information on him. Which IEP system are you switching to? We have eSped. It takes about a million steps to get to and then to print the progress reports, lol! Hopefully your new system is easier!
